Readers: I’m currently trekking a hundred and some miles across the Central Massif of France, a wild and uninhabited area of ancient basalt flows cut by deep gorges and sprinkled with a few tiny villages.
More than once in the last decade-plus of political insanity I've thought of hiking the AT and then maybe just becoming a woodswoman, if only to escape this world.
It's either that, or converting to Amish.
Does anyone know if they accept middle aged secular Jews? 🤔
This has got to be one of the most hilarious summaries of biblical characters that I have ever read. I laughed out loud, so hard-- the best medicine for the insane and creepy times we live in. Thank you so much for this.
The Latin work for rock is "petrus". When Christ appointed Simon to bring the gospel to the gentiles, he said to him "You are Petrus (Peter), and upon this rock I will build my church" That's how Simon came to be called Peter.
Keep commenting on your trek, Glenn! Always interesting... Especially during a historic trip. I consider myself an informed guy, but have never heard of this route. Reading the Bible is on this bucket list; I have tried several times and detoured in frustration....
Unique look about the apostles and all of the James'. Even for a journalist.
Ah, enjoy your trek!! Sounds fabulous!

Given my kind of desultory discipleship, I might have been known as the More or Lesser, had I walked the walk. Enjoy your walkabout, mate.
